I also heard this specific deal was close to happening on ESPN Radio. They might have got their info from the same paper, but a deal does look imminent.

So, let's see, Glavine gets a $3M buyout if both options (Mets $14M (already refused) and Glavine's $7.5) are refused, which means that the net for the Mets had they exercised the option was $11M in 2007.

Now they are paying the $11M in 2007 and another $14M in 2008?!? :-? (And I know it is likely a more even split in the two years, just using the $11M and $14M as they add to $25M).

Doesn't seem like a smart play.

Yeah, that's rather weird. It makes sense for the Mets to keep him, but 25M over two years? Yikes.
