Derek Jeter had a phenomenal season and will probably win another award or two.

Gold Glove shouldn't have been one of them.

Not trying to be a homer but where are the Red Sox players? Best fielding percentage in the league and no gold glove winners?

Who would you suggest? Lowell and Loretta seem pretty good but I don't think they were the best in the AL.

Gonzalez just didn't play enough or else he'd have been up there with Uribe and Young.

Gonzalez and Lowell was arguably the best left half of an infield from a defensive standpoint I've seen. They made some remarkable plays look pedestrian. I remember a Sunday night ESPN game versus Atlanta where they had Ozzie in the booth, and the runner took off from first, Gonzo went to cover 2d, and the ball was hit behind him. He stopped, reached back to the direction he had come from and came up with the ball making the play at 1st. One of the crew said to Ozzie "You never made a play like that." Unfortunately that's not on this audio. It can be found here under the June 18 game.

I figured Chavez would win and he's certainly worthy. I knew Jeter would win and it's not for that reason :-P .

Too bad they don't do the OF position specific. Not that Wells and Hunter aren't terrific out there, but it's not like they give out 4 infielder awards.

i guess i'm just a homer. ;-D
crede did have more assists and put outs than chavez. but also did have 5 more errors than chavez in almost 100 more innings played.

I was a little surprised Gary Matthews Jr. didn't make the cut. I think Hunter made it more on reputation alone rather than merit.

Fielding % means little. RedSox have no range. They are not a good defensive team.
