Which RP gets the most saves?

Postby greenandgold » Fri Nov 03, 2006 7:15 pm

Out of these RP, none of which have a lock on a closer job (from what I can tell), will get the most saves next season? Will any of them get more then 20?

I'll say Eric Gagne gets the most closing for another team.

I think these guys will get at least 20
----------------------------------------

Gagne
Broxton (closing for the Dodgers)
Dotel
Soriano (I think he'll take over the Sea job sometime in 2007)
Turnbow (I think he'll be traded, maybe Cincy?)

I'd bet on Soriano, I heard he was getting dealt to become closer for another team.

Didn't Soriano get badly hurt at the end of the year?

Gagne will get a chance to close somewhere.

Yeah, a bad concussion from a come-backer, but he's ok and will be ready for next season.

I agree. I don't think Soriano will get any saves unless he's dealt (besides a vulture here or there), which is definitely a possibility.

Why are so many people here high on Dotel?

He proved nothing last year coming back from injury. He posted an ERA over 10 and didn't get any better as the season went on. He also gave up nearly 2 hits an inning and walked over a batter an inning.

Now if he resigns with the Yanks I certainly hope he can regain his past success, but he hasn't made 50 appearances since 2003 when he was with Houston. Expecting a team to give him the closer's role as if he was never hurt and didn't pitch like garbage last year seems very unrealistic.

I'm not too high on Dotel but thought I would throw him up because of some rumors. I thought Saito might close for LA again next year but it seems that a lot of people think Broxton will move in.
