Tough call, I think they're going to make a stronger push for Zito and Matsuzaka (hopefully I didn't butcher that) than they will for Schmidt, but really all of these guys are getting offers from a large variety of teams and there are a lot of possibilities I see. I once heard Schmidt to the Cubbies but I've also heard that it's seeming less likely to happen.

I think this is the way it will end up...

Mets = Zito

Red Sox = Schmidt

I am praying the Cards DO NOT sign Jason Schmidt:

The guy is damaged goods. Last year he was plagued by injury and although he pitched a full year this year, he still was feeling the effects of overuse and old age and had a solid but unspectacular year. If we sign Schmidt, hes going to break down just like Mulder did, and we are going to regret it.

Zito in the NL would do wonders to his numbers, especially playing for the Mets. ;-D

I've heard tons about Schmidt to the M's, even earlier in the year Schmidt made joke in an interview after pitching against the M's that it was a "tryout", guess he has connections to the area. I think Schmidt to the M's is a lock as long as the M's don't try to short change him too much.

Zito to the Mets might happen, but I don't know from everything I hear Zito's priorities are to stay westcoast, money talks though. Mets might have to suffer a offseason without getting a big pitching upgrade *gasp* ;-) .

I think there's a very real chance it ends up Zito to the Dodgers, Schmidt to the Mariners, Matsuzaka to one of the NY teams, leaving the other one and the RedSox without any significant pitching addition.

I think if Pedro retires, Zito is a Lock.
