Hardly. Money certainly does talk, but if he truly wants to stay on the West Coast, he will. I'm not saying he won't come to NY, but saying he'd be a lock probably isn't the truth.

Perhaps Omar has his poker face on but it appears that his interest in Zito and/or Schmidt is far less than people (including myself) were expecting. At this point it would not be terribly surprising to see neither end up on the Mets.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Said Olney in his blog:

"I've heard the Yankees' Plan B, if they don't get Matsuzaka, will be the pursuit of Jason Schmidt. Talked to his agent the other day, and he said that any perception that Schmidt is devoted to the idea of playing close to his home in Washington is 'completely inaccurate' and that he hasn't ruled out any team, in any time zone."

Most likely Zito. Zito isn't the type of guy who would like NY, but money makes people like things they generally wouldn't otherwise. As a Yankee fan, I can stand my favorite pitcher (Zito) going to the Mets as long as its not the Red Sox...
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

If I were a Yankee fan I'd want him on the Red Sox, Yankee's own Zito lifetime.

What about his other 30 starts a year?

Its not like having Zito does Boston no good if he can't beat the Yankees. He can still beat all the other teams and pitch a hell of a lot better than the trash they threw out there last year.

I sure don't want to see him with Boston.

just out of curiosity ...
when you come into the cafe, do you just do a search for the word "Yankee"? I don't think I have ever seen you post anywhere else other than a post or thread that mentions the word Yankee. If not, you might want to think about it next time, I am sure it could cut down on your reading time considerably.

just curious.
