1. whether or not he was over or under rated

I think he was overrated ONLY because he was productive immediately.

2. where he should go in a full draft

I would draft him as a poor mans Reyes. 5th or 6th SS off the board

3. where he should go in a 5-keeper 8 person draft with double emphasis on defense.

3rd-4th round.

i dont think he is overrated. there is perhaps a little more uncertainty about him because he has just one year of experience. i'd expect him to go off the board around 3rd-4th round of a 12 team 5x5 unless i missed something about the new manager not letting him steal bases.

I'm not sure what to make of Hanley. He was always highly regarded so I don't think he is completely flukey.

If I had to put my money on him, then I would bet that he is more real than not.

Add me vote to the "overrated" consensus.

It's weird, the one thing that I think of with Hanley is that stretch right after his first hot one...the long drought. The .190 June and the .264 July (if I recall, July started out rough and ended decent). The fact that he was hot, cold and then hot again actually gives me some hope that he's got something going for him (batted over 300 the other 4 months).

As for next season something that comes to my mind is that he's mostly a SB/Runs guy with a BA that won't entirely kill you. The SBs may or may not differ depending on the new coach and his view on SBs, runs are mostly dependent on the batting behind Hanley driving him in...so basically, lots of factors are playing in on here on whether or not he reproduces his previous numbers.
