Robin Yount leaving the Brewers....

Postby Brew Crew » Fri Nov 10, 2006 6:35 pm

MILWAUKEE -- Bench coach Robin Yount today informed the Milwaukee Brewers that he will not return to the team for the 2007 season. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Melvin.
"This was a very difficult decision for me," said Yount. "I have such a passion for the job and I did not want to shortchange the club by not being able to fully commit to the position. The decision came down to devoting more time to my family."

"I completely understand and respect Robin's decision," said Melvin. "He was very helpful to our organization and to our young players. His contributions were greatly appreciated and will be missed."

A decision has not been made regarding a replacement for Yount. The first-base coach position is also currently vacant. On Oct. 27, the Brewers named Jim Skaalen batting coach, replacing Butch Wynegar.

Yount, the Brewers' all-time leader in nearly every offensive category, was named bench coach on November 4, 2005.

Unless he has some ties to Pinella I am not aware of, I think he's not going to the Cubs.

BTW, good for him if he's truly going to spend time with the family. Nothing wrong with that choice.

Too bad for the Brew Crew to lose him, but if Yount is going to spend time with the family, then there is nothing wrong with that. ;-D

Did he ever hit 3 homers in one game though? :-?
