I'm sure we can get an auction going. I've asked Mad, but he's not keen on starting anything before mid-december.

It's not really a matter of me not wanting to get mocks going, it's simply that they won't be remotely accurate, so why bother? Sheff just got traded, J. D. Drew just walked out of the final 3 years of his contract 8-o , free agents are everywhere, and who knows what other crazy things will happen? The whole point of a mock is to learn, but when there are so many unknowns out there, it makes a huge difference as to where (or at what price) they will be drafted ;-) . Even predictions are a bit silly at this point. Anyone want to predict or draft Zito at the moment :-b ? He could wind up in the stacked AL East with the Yankees, or he could wind up in the weaker hitting NL and get to face a pitcher instead of a DH. Needless to say that it makes a HUGE difference and effects where he's drafted, or what he's worth in an auction. How many players are in similar situations? Quite a few more than most people think. ;-) Toss in trades (Sheff) and other things that couldn't be predicted (J. D. Drew), and it's awfully early to even consider a mock. The offseason has just started, and there will be more things happening that change the scope of drafts considerably. B-)

That's my thinking on it anyway. Why do something that's everyone knows will be inaccurate and pointless? Why not do something more productive like tweaking cheatsheets, tracking players, research on the new Japanese players that will be coming over (This should help some), digging for sleepers, etc, etc, etc?

Anyway, enough rambling out of me :-b , and I seem to have this discussion each and every single offseason, so I won't bother discussing it any further. Since I did build a forum for this mock, if you want to orgainze an auction mock BritSox, I'll build you a forum too. ;-D

If an auction is set up, I would love to participate.
