Bonds is signed through 2005 with an option for 2006. It is unlikely he would play for another team.

I'll say he plays one more year with the Giants, then if he doesn't retire, he will DH in the AL.

I never thought about him DH'ing...that's a very real possibility...

Bonds DH'ing is not likley for several reasons:

1. Bonds is signed through 2005 with an option for 2006. If he is close to Aaron by then he will break the record as a Giant.

2. At the end of 2006, Bonds will be 42 years old. By then his skills will be dimished at least some. Why would any team want a 42 year old DH? Especially, if he has already broken Aaron's record.

3. Bonds has strong ties to the Bay Area. A lot of fans who don't live in the Bay Area may not know this but he was raised in the Bay Area and he has lots of family here.

4. Even if the Giants wanted to trade him his trade value wouldn't be that high because of his contract and his age. If Bonds waits until the end of 2006 to join a new what would be the point? He career would be over by then most likely.

That is all assuming that he plays out his contract. Nothing is guaranteed in baseball. ;-)
