i know its all about the regularity of pitching every 5th day with specified workouts and noth aving to warm up all the time and such, but still.. its hard for me to believe that being a starter is better for his arm than being a reliever and pitching a third of the innings....

but yeah.. probably a pretty small chance.

that's the whole reason he isn't closing. He was broke. His shoulder was having problems. the sox were told if he kept in the closer role, the chances of improvement on his shoulder were not good. For Paps sake, they had to take him out. They didn't want to .

Hansen got knocked around last year, and is getting knocked around again in ST. He simply isn't ready yet.

I've said it before, but what about Lester in the role?

I believe that their was talk that he took to long to warm up. Besides, he is probably going to start the year in extend spring training.

I dont see why they wouldnt make a play for Turnbow...I cant see the Brewers wanting too much for him and he was a solid closer outside of issues last season.

Boston can have fun with this whole thing. I can't believe they expect to make a run at NY with Timlin or Pineiro closing for them. After multiple seasons of issues, they came across the best closer in the game last season by blind luck... and now they are going to conduct two science projects by turning a mediocre starter into a closer, and their star closer back into a starter? Hmm. Maybe if Manny catches and Varitek takes his leadership to the outfield, things will get better too.

I really doubt you see Pap back as closer, he's been a starter his whole career, he made himself a top prospect as a starter, closer was a one year experiment, leave the man alone, let him start. That is the only way you are going to get his full potential. And tinfoilwhatever, it just shows how much you know by making a statement like that.
