H2H Leagues With Lots Of Catagories

Postby SmartassBoiler » Sun Mar 11, 2007 11:48 am

I just got an invite to a 12 team, H2H scoring league with the following catagories:

Runs
Hits
Home Runs
Runs Batted In
Stolen Bases
Walks
Intentional Walks
Strikeouts
Batting Average
On-base + Slugging Percentage

Innings Pitched
Wins
Losses
Complete Games
Shutouts
Saves
Earned Runs
Walks
Intentional Walks
Strikeouts
Earned Run Average
(Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched

I'm debating joining or not since I've only played 5x5 leagues. How the hell do you prepare for a scoring system like that?

Yeah I know, and the worst part is that it's H2H. I'll probably deline the invitation. It's a $100 buy-in so it'd be a nice pot, but the catagories are ridiculous. :-o

Draft Soriano much lower. Don't change your strategy otherwise. :-D
Seriously though, what's Soriano's career OBP, like .315?? Man doesn't draw a helluva lot of walks.

I appreciate how this scoring system deemphasizes stolen bases and saves, and increases the role of plate discipline. You might end up changing who you pick at the margin (i.e., who you pick out of two basically equal players) and moving players a few spots in your overall rankings (say, shifting Youkilis up a bit because of his walk rate), but it shouldn't be radically different. There's a lot of overlap.

Really pointless: There's an Earned Runs category and an Innings Pitched category. Then there's an ERA category, which is just the relationship between them. Sounds like someone got a bit cat-happy.
