Does he have options left?
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I tend to think that Cantu's demotion to AAA is going to not last that long Look at the infield as is, you have Zobrist at SS and Upton at 2B - do you really know how either is going to work out as a F/T at that position? Then you have Gomes and Dukes to add to that group of most likely walking a thin wire at the start of the season to decide who stays with the club all year.

So in my most likely misguided opinion I'd think that Gomes, Zobrist, Dukes then Upton in that order are at risk to switch spots with Mr Cantu in the minors should they lack some sort of offensive ability.

*(Not to mention should Baldelli go to the DL at any point)

He doesn't really have a lot of choice. Report and continue to receive your major league paycheck or sit at home and collect nothing. After a few days, he'll report although I am sure he will keep insisting that he wants to be traded.

they've shopped him and no one wants him. his best bet is to report and play well. sitting at home isnt going to get him anything.

Surely the ROYALS might be interested.

Sweet. Tell him to go sit at the house for the rest of the year then. I would rather not take any chances of seeing him back in Tampa. ;-D ;-D
