Chris Iannetta?

He was a trendy sleeper throughout the preseason and a relatively smart pick for a backup or even #1 catcher. After two weeks he has not had any success.

What have we observed about Iannetta? Slump? Not ready? Still worth owning in, say, a 12-team league?

He's in a slump now, and I think he'll turn it around, but right now he's doing nothing for your fantasy teams, so I agree drop him unless it's a dynasty or keeper league.

IMO, first year catchers have to focus so much on learning their pitching staff and opponents tendencies, their hitting usually takes a hit below what was their norm. Let everyone dump on him for this year and grab him late in the season or next year if a dynasty.

Worse than his production is the fact that he hasn't played very much. He'd played in 4 of the last 8 games.

He just wasn't swining the bat very well, or even getting on base. Plus he was striking out once every 2 at bats.

I say give him another year.

I think its pretty safe to drop him in a 12 teamer, he will prolly stay off most peoples radar. I just dropped him in my money league for estrada. Just keep your eye on iannetta, he could break-out of his slump after seeing some more MLB pitches, but i would expect the rest of the season to have its ups and downs for him.

He's not gonna get enough AB's to be worth having in a 12 teamer or shallower. Torrealba will get way more AB's than most backup catchers.
