What round did you draft Jason Giambi?

I drafted him in the 16th round of a 12 team league and in the 17th round of a 10-team league- after he was passed over in favor of studs such as Ryan Freel, Derek Lowe, and Benjie Molina.

How late did you draft this guy? How is it possible that he fell so low in not one, but in two leagues?

I had him last year. He will hit .330 one month, .160 the next. .380 the next month, .120 the month after that. yeah...have fun with that

Even the months where he hits for low average he's productive in runs, home runs and rbis. Look at April through August. (Remember he got hurt in September)

April 17/9/27/.344
May 18/4/19/.233
June 15/11/23/.256
July 16/6/18/.186
August 16/6/25/.311

Granted, his BA is streaky, but the other numbers he puts up really aren't which more than make up for his inconsistant BA. One thing is for sure, his overall numbers darn sure aren't streaky enough to make the comment... "have fun with that". I got him in the 12th and consider him an outstanding bargain with that pick.

Exactly. I made the initial post because I was truly curious where people drafted Giambi. In my league where I didnt draft him, he went in the 12th round (and i too consider this a tremendous bargain).

He's hit .260 over the last two years, but the other numbers will be similar to Konerko/Delgado. If you pass on those two in round 6 in favor of getting Giambi later, you can fill other needs such as drafting a 3rd outfielder (Rios, Cuddyer, Pierre, Matsui, etc.).

He dropped really far in my leagues too. Wish I'd picked him up, but I had Thome already and didn't want another utility guy. Traded Thome and now I'd love to have taken Giambi in the 13th or wherever he ended up getting picked, lol. !+)

17th Round. I didn't really want him but I figured he was far too good to just be sitting out there.

Wow, can't believe he fell that far in any league. Nice bargain for you guys.

I pick him in a 12 team league in the tenth round. I think he is a good value given his OPS and that he is capable of 30+ dingers.
