Perhaps it's the end of the road for Rivera. He needs to retire...we don't want another Bernie Williams trying to take up a valuable roster spot.

I would guess Bruney if (a) Mo's arm falls off, (b) he goes on the DL or (c) he retires. Other than that it will be Mo even if he blows every single save from here to the end of the season (not that I'd be expecting that. ;) ).

The logical step would be Bruney because he's been unbelieveable for a good sample size from the last two years as a Yankee. Joe Torre only has certain guys that he trusts, and Bruney is not one of them yet. Until we see Bruney in 8th inning situations consistently, I can't see him being picked as closer.

I agree with Bruney as well (although Mo would never lose his job). He has nasty ratios, and has closed in the past. In fact, I'm surprised he didn't keep the job in Arizona...

New Rule - a closer can no longer be referred to as "Mo" if

(a) he has zero saves
and
(b) he's not mowing anyone down

Mariano turns into Mo somehow? For now, he shall be "Mari".

Seriously, unless he's hurt he'll be the one blowing...I mean closing games for the Yankee$
