Cubs-Maddux talks increasing.

As a Cub fan, I don't want Maddux.

Shunned us once when we needed him, now we don't....Juan Cruz could put up comparable #'s (at a cheaper price). Let him get overpaid elsewhere.

I'd rather use that money at the deadline -- when we'll know what we need.

what i heard was that the cubs were talking to boras about either maddux or pudge but only if their asking price dropped.

Well we have all the starting spots filled in the field. We still don't have a leadoff guy....

Lofton is the guy that led us to the playoffs -- giving us something we hadn't had in a long time in a true leadoff hitter. I wouldn't of matched the Yankees offer, but seeing as we coulda had Castillo instead of Grudz/Walker -- I woulda preferred that (fills 2 holes with one player vs. 2 players with one hole w/o addressing the other)

This is what I heard too....I hope Mr. Hendry don't sign either one at their asking price.....Either one woud helpd the Cubbies....at the right price and right contract legnth.... :-)

I would much rather have roger than maddux. Maddux is pretty bad.

Maddux isn't bad, I just don't want the Cubs to pay $5 million to get him when Cruz is capable of putting up a decent ERA and 10+ wins for much cheaper.

Before this is etched in stone, remember that his agent is the same 1 that said that Millwood had a 5 year/$75 million contract on the table and then Millwood went and accepted arbitration. Boras is a blowhard who likes to artificially inflate his client's value. They all do but he is the worst. :-t
