I'm pretty surprised with Heltons play this season. Anyone think he's up for a rebound season?

His current line- 9 runs 1 hr 14 rbi 370BA

We know he can hit 330-340, he has a CAREER AVG of 333. Could it be that he's finally healthy? Or is it because the Colorado lineup is actually full of good hitters this season?

I do believe his hrs are still going to be low, but I do think he has the potential to go 100-100. Similar to that of Garrett Atkins of last season, with a few less home runs.

Thoughts?

I had him preseason at...
0.310 Avg
20 HR
80 RBI
100 Runs
3 SB

I'll pretty much stick with that but I wouldn't be surprised to see .010 points more in his avg and 10-20 more rbi.

I had him at .330 18 HR 100 RBI 100 Runs and 2 SB before the season, so I think he keeps it up.

Whats impressive is that he's hitting behind a slow-starting Garrett Atkins and an old ass decrepit Steve Finley.

Atkins will heat up ;-D
Finley will stay old and decrepit :-t

But although his days of 30-40 homerun seasons are behind him, Helton will still continue to hit for a great average and get on base for Holliday. Lets also remember that Helton is past his prime, but at 33 years old, he is not Steve Finley status.

I honestly think a 100 run, 25hr, 100rbi, .325 season is possible.

No reason not to expect great numbers from him, he was at the top of my bargain bin this season. His power is down with age, but assuming Atkins doesn't slump to the BA hes at right now for long I see Helton having a productive season based on, if nothing else, common sense that with great protection and a high OBP/BA he really can't miss 100 R, 100 RBI with Holliday and Atkins producing.
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

The big thing for me with Helton so far - he's been driving the ball to the opposite field. He only has one home run, but he's had a good bunch that were near home runs (last week stood out particularly in that respect). And he should be a doubles machine, meaning tons of RBIs and runs.

I think he is healthy and ready for a big season! ;-D

Oh btw, I love his walk up music - Back in the Saddle Again. :-D

check out his home/road splits, he's a great guy to platoon when playing at home. my dynasty league has a bb and k category, so he plays when he's at home, prince fielder plays when helton's away. not a bad way to balance long term plans and current year competition, eh?
