I think concerns regarding his back might be a bit overblown in an attempt by teams to scare off competing bids and to try to get him to sign a smaller contract.

The Angels had the 3rd most stolen bases last year. He'll probably run.

That would be nice if he would get back to running.

I think his back should be OK, and he'll steal some bases. With all the training these guys do, I dont think 90 extra feet of running will affect him at all. He runs miles and miles during the season, so chances are he'd hurt his back training, not stealing. Besides, he'll have to run if somebody hits and he's on base, I don't see his SB attempts decreasing at all............and the grass might hurt his average a little bit (slows down infield grounders) but he has enough power that it won't be a problem I don't think.

I can't see him stealing 40 anymore, but I think 20 is doable. That drops his value from $50 to $40, but I'd take it. These are my projections for him, but i'm thinking about dropping them a tad:

Guerrero Vladimir OF ANA 28

AB 605
Runs 111
Hits 203
Doubles 35
Triples 2
HR 44
RBI 133
BB 88
K's 77
SB 22
CS 7
AVG 0.336
OBP 0.420
SLG 0.618

The thing is, Trev, the kid may be taking his game to another level. The second half last season for him was phenomenal. True, that is not always a true indicator of future performance, but it does make me wonder just how good he can be. On the other hand, his home/road splits aren't good, so it does make me worry a little that he won't do as well in Anaheim. We shall see, but as long as he's healthy he should put up excellent numbers.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but did you guys read about him and his brother in the Dodger's academy they have down in the Dominican? They only wanted to sign Vlad as a catcher. When he said no they refused to sign him. That's almost as good as those old Mickey Mantle stories.

actually as a Dodger fan they always said he was too small, if you can believe that.

I'd give him a slight boost. :-) I think worst case is he hits his norms.
