Felix Pie, looks like he is up for good

Update: Pie batted second again Monday, and will likely stay there and continue to start in center field, the Cubs' Web Site reports. Said manager Lou Piniella: "I like the idea of a left-handed hitter in the two-hole with all the right-handed hitting that we have. He fits in there rather nicely. We'll put him in there and see how he does."

Recommendation: If Pie hits and plays well in center field, it could be his job for the next 10 years. He's capable of hitting for average and even some pop, but temper your expectations for steals as he's still a bit raw in that department despite his excellent speed.

A 'bit raw' ? ...meaning he's not very experienced in stealing bases?

all of the above. he is lighting fast with decent pop. something like 15/30 is reasonable.

I don't think those numbers are reasonable this year. I could see the 15 home runs, but certainly not 30 steals. He definitely has the speed, but he hasn't learned the nuances of base stealing as evidenced by his poor success rates in the minor leagues (13/22 in 2005 and 17/28 last year). Also, it would surprise me to see him hit .300 this year since he could barely crack .300 in the minors.

He's a BJ Upton type player with less power. I'm just happy because I have both of them in a keeper league.

Don't start him today (Thursday) against lefty Chuck James. Pie has gone 44/94 (.468) against right handers, but only 5/32 (.156) against lefties in Iowa this season.

If you're going to take a flier on Pie, platoon him for his days against lefties for the time being.

I think you should expect something like .270/10/10 for the rest of the season. I could see him having a lower average that that too, in first year.

5 game hitting streak since being called up again. I'm impressed that he has only one K as well. Hopefully the Cubs keep in the lineup based on his defense.

Well, they not only kept him in against a lefty, but still hit him 2nd also. Ended up paying off as he had an RBI single in a 2-1 game. Looks good for him playing almost every day (with days off here and there), and batting 2nd every time he's in the lineup.
