who will be the yanks 2B now?? enrique wilson??? miguel cairo??? Sure they are adding the best player in the game, but they are also losing a top 5 guy in probably the scarcest position on the field. They will be better, but you never know how arod and jeter will get along. Sure arod says hes willing to move to 3rd, but nobody in their right mind who has ever played baseball on any level wants to give up shortstop. Shortstop is the field general and arod has to be feeling like he will be playing under Jeter, but thats just my theory.

Could this be a Shortstop Controversy!!

Actually, I think the only place on the field Jeter could go that would be a defensive improvment for the Yanks would be 1B. I agree A-Rod is the much better defensive player at SS, but will be surprised if they move Derek out of that position. Any chance of getting him to move to 2B, which doesn't solve their problem at 3B, but makes them a better defensive team. IMO

I'll have to respectfully disagree A-rod goes outside the top 5. Soriano did hit 40 homers there a couple years ago I believe.

I'd argue 3B is every bit as shallow as SS.

My question is: Does this REALLY make the Yanks better? I feel like they would be replacing one big gap in their infield to create another. Mike Lamb and Tyler Houston get replaced with ARod but they lose Soriano to replace him with Miguel Cairo and/or Enrique Wilson. They would also lose Contreras in this deal. I don't know much about any of these players except ARod and Soriano. Can someone knowledgable help out with this?
Do you believe the Yanks are going to be better in this deal??

according to ESPN, contreras is not part of the deal(see my post on page 3) its soriano and a minor league pitcher. it makes the yankees better because A-rod is better defensivly and destroys Soriano in every offensive category except for SB's those who thinks this trade bumps A-rod out of the top 5 are nuts. he still has the best numbers of any player, regardless of position.

A-Rod is still getting paid and is on a team thats the favorite to win the WS every year instead of the team that finishes in last place in the West every year. I think he'll be fine. As for 2nd base, whats stopping them from pulling off another blockbuster for a great 2nd baseman. Like Soriano? :-b

Soriano is terrible at 2B. They aren't getting worse defensively, they're getting much better. A-Rod at 3B and me at 2B is better than Lamb and Soriano.

Down with the Yankees!!!!

thats what I hope every year and for the past couple it has came true. If Torre doesnt win it this year with Arod, he is definitely gone.
