Besides, a lot of people do not play 5X5 Roto, so league format makes a big difference in rankings, especially for such different style of players so closely ranked overall. I doubt there's really 99% consensus for ARod, let alone Hanley.

I think Wright is the #2 guy for those who like to play it safe.

Hanley is the #2 for those who like more upside and a little risk.

Wright, no doubt for me. Unlike Hanley, Wright has a good lineup to hit in.

Wright in H2H.

Hanley in Roto where SB guys are worth more.

Still unsure about 6x6, the big power guys get a boost there.

You'll see that some of CD's rankings are NOT a result of groupthink. :-D

As far as the groupthink comment, it's as easy to label certain things as groupthink as it is to fall into it. Taking into account mock drafts and the ADP that comes with it gives a good idea of how the value is spread out, but it's not the end-all be-all to decide things; it just gives you a general picture of value and some idea on how to attack the draft.

The main reason as to why Hanley is valued higher than Howard in general is simply because a 5-cat hitter at shortstop is a little more of a rarity than a 50 HR bat. When you think of how deep 1B is, it's easier to replace Howard's stats to a certain degree, with let's say, an Adrian Gonzalez than it is to replace some of the stats Hanley can post, especially at SS. If you're starting a team from scratch, you should take Hanley over Howard given that, but if you're in a keeper/dynasty, I think it's really a matter of what stats/positions need to be filled in.

Now that it's been about a week since this thread, and people have had time to finalize their rankings before their drafts, do you still think that wright is the overwhelming choice at #2? I personally think that he is the overwhelming choice at #4 or #5 due to the 5 categories that he provides, but he is not a stud at anyone of them. So I'm not sure about #2? What do you say?

You see Wright, Hanley and Reyes alot.. But I say it's Matt Holliday.. A .325-.340 Ave, 35-40 HR, 125-140 RBI, 120 Runs, 12-15 SB guy.. He's a stud!
