I'm sure they'll get over it (especially when they see what Crawford has brought them). The PR people could always focus on how awesome your top 3 pitchers are instead. ;-D

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

He will be with the Rays, they have the option and will exercise it. Baldelli is a different story, it will all depend on what he does this season.

CD,

Curious as to why u think Rocco and CC both will not be kept by the Rays, it is their option, not a player option

Crawford will have the $8.5 mill option picked up. That is a bargain. But he could bring the Rays lotsa talent back. So I dont see a trade to the Yankees. The Cubs could be players for Crawford. They have pitching in the minors to trade, and thats what the Rays could use more, and Pie could be involved in the trade if he continues to dissapoint. Cubs are not patient anymore.
But with a projected rotation like:
Kazmir
Shields
Garza
Niemann
Price
why trade Crawford at all? This team is on the rise.

Yes Delgado and Alou's salaries (23.5 mill) will be off the books.
But they just added $20 mill for next year, and no other Starting pitcher signed for 2009. Maine will be arbitration elig. So the Mets will have 3 spots open and the FA starters could cost some serious money.
Probably they wanna bring back Pedro and Perez if they perform well this year. But Perez as a Boras client will test the open market for sure.
El Duque is older than Yoda, so hope for Pelfrey who is cheap.

I think Yoda got busy when he hit his early 600s. They do share some physical attibutes and were else do you get a leg kick like that? He does have great concentration, pitches well in big games.
