Is it even worth drafting these guys (outside of Capps)? I'm honestly contemplating just dropping them and picking up dirty middle relievers like Heath Bell to just keep my ratios down until I can get my hands on a closer (one of the above loses their job and I pick up the replacement.) Or should I just hold onto them and pick up a few saves early on and then cut them loose when there's a better alternative?

I remember Yoda saying that he'd rather take great MRs late in the draft than these clowns. Is that a smart play? Is it even worth it to use a roster spot on these guys?

My bullpen in one of my keepers, after the auction, is: Jeremy Accardo, Jon Rauch, Brian Fuentes, and Rafael Soriano.

I like my bullpen better than yours.

I'd be scared about Soriano.

Not sure why everyone thinks Lyon is losing the job. Would have to be beyond awful to get removed. DBacks like having set roles in the pen. Plus keeping the saves off of Pena's arb number while getting Lyon to Type A free agencey is a bonus. Besides Lyon closing allows Pena and Qualls to pitch the real high leverage situations.

Lyons was pretty damn good a couple of years back when he was the closer - he lost the job due to injury (which is an obvious concern with him). Soriano has a sore elbow right now and has proven that he cannot stay healthy, so Mike Gonzalez (when he comes back) is worth keeping an eye on

Lyons is just the right mixture of not very good and injury prone that I have no confidence in him. He has to have an abnormally high strand rate like he had last year to be semi decent and I just don't believe in a repeat. This is a 4+ ERA skillset on a guy who has a long history of elbow problems. Not someone I'm gonna be drafting.

I agree that I am not drafting him but plenty of craptastic pitchers have closed including Lyon himself.
