The 1st half Free Agent All-Star team

Postby Field » Thu Jul 03, 2008 3:41 pm

Interesting how hard it is to find solid free agent hitters, especially position players:

C- Doumit/Navarro
1B - Huff
2B - TheRiot
3B - Reynolds
SS - Guzman
OF - Bradley, Ludwick, Quentin/McLouth (both were drafted in some leagues)

While SPs are much easier to come by:

SP - Dempster, Saunders, Marcum, Duch, Danks, Lee (Volquez was drafted in a lot of leagues)
CL - Rauch, Torres (not many out-of-nowhere closers so far)

A lot of those guys were drafted but I guess in most leagues they were not.

Also add Ervin, Morrow.

This was just a quick exercise, I didn't check ADP. I just kind of did it by feel with a standard 10-12 team league in mind.

Yep. Hitting is very thin this year.

My free agent pickups, helping me get to the top of my league: Cliff Lee, Shaun Marcum (traded for Victorino), Ervin Santana, Carlos Quentin, Juan Pierre, Ryan Theriot, Jon Rauch, Brandon Morrow, Salomon Torres. Never before have I relied so heavily on free agency for the core of my team, but its working.
