The thing people are getting wrong in this thread is, it's not what common sense, normal people would do, it what the two-headed retard of MCCourt/Colletti will do. It's all well and good that the rest of the world values Kemp/Kershaw/McDonald/Mystery Prospect at value X, but who is to say that's what the L.A front office thinks (if they are capable of thought :-S ). For all we know McCourt has wet his Depends and signed a blank trading cheque for Colletti.

Most self-respecting Dodger fans would observe that Frank McCourt is a money-grubbing cheapskate who thinks he can turn Dodger Stadium into a bloody generic upscale mall. The same goes for Colletti proving to be incompetent and the front office is straight out of a CareerBuilder commercial. For all their ineptitude, I don't think they can possibly get it wrong in actually trading Kemp and in essence sell the farm. Not too bright to entertain such an offer? Sure, but to go through with it, another thing altogether.

Exhibit A.

Cleveland have a potential closer for next year and a potentially devastating future bat for a rental of an average player. And there are rumours Blake wants to re-sign with the Indians.

This one is still a bit of a long shot because they are division rivals, but with Penny and Lowe leaving, they can afford it, and could possibly think they HAVE to do it.

Also, Towers would have to point to the Haren trade as a trade value precedent.

I really hope this happens, because it's no secret that I'd love to see this Dodgers regime go down in flames. ;-D

"Casey Blake is a gamer," Dodgers GM Ned Colletti said. "His experience and character will be a plus as we head down the stretch in the final two months of the regular season."

According to the Boston Herald, the Red Sox will make a run at dealing for Jake Peavy this offseason.
The asking price is going to be monstrous, but Boston certainly has enough young arms to swing a deal. Peavy, 27, has said he prefers the National League, though industry sources believe he won't veto a trade to an AL power. The Padres are thought to be asking for two pitchers and a position player, most likely an outfielder.

I'm sure that there will be plenty of rumors regarding Peavy this offseason.

The Red Sox would definitely have to include Masterson in that deal. I'm not sure who else the Padres would want, though. Kalish or Anderson possibly.
