MLBPA Says Teams Colluded Against Bonds

Postby BronXBombers51 » Thu Oct 16, 2008 10:57 pm

NEW YORK -- The baseball players' union says it has found evidence teams acted in concert against signing Barry Bonds but it reached an agreement with the commissioner's office to delay the filing of any grievance.

The union expressed concern in May about the lack of offers to the home run king. Filing a grievance would trigger proceedings before arbitrator Shyam Das.

Haven't the owners already been hit in the pocket 3 times for colluding?

Surely they haven't again?

It would be really funny if they haven't.

No doubt that this happened. It would be nearly impossible to prove however.

It's actually 4 times if you count the payoff that was included in the 2006 CBA due to alleged collusion earlier in the decade. As far as proof, it's not like proof in a murder trial and the MLBPA hasn't lost yet so maybe there is something here if they came forward with evidence.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Finally. I was hoping they'd eventually do something.

Bonds is unquestionably bad for the game, and the sooner he's in the rearview mirror, the better. I just want to get this Steroid Era thing over with already.

I'm ashamed the Yankees didn't sign him. He could have helped immensely with Posada and Matsui hurt and Cano sucking all year. They might be in the playoffs.
