That's an improvement dude, IMO.
On a side note, Holliday should have a better supporting cast than some may have thought:

1. Sweeney
2. Cabrera
3. Giambi
4. Holliday
5. Cust
6. Ellis
7. Chavez (for 2 weeks, then Hannahan)
8. Suzuki
9. Buck

That's at par with what the Rockies are throwing out there

I don't think that will be the batting order. Holliday will bat 3rd and I think Buck will be higher up. If Chavez gets hurt, Hannahan will bat last.

So you're gonna hit Giambi and Cust back to back? :-?
I doubt they'll put the two lefties back to back like that.

Whatever the actual order is.....the general point is that lineup is much more formidable than it was last year.

He was put on waivers back in December and nobody wanted him. The A's couldn't even give him away.

Substantial savings from what O-cab made last year. Guess he should have accepted arbitration or taken the 5 mil deal the A's offered him a month ago, thanks Orlando Hudson.

Maybe we can ship Crosby off to Toronto now. ;-)

My projected lineup:
buck
suzuki
holliday
giambi
cust
sweeney
chavez
ellis
cabrera

There's a lot of lefties on this team. We aren't going to be able to avoid the left handed run.

Crosby would be better than what they have imo. Change of scenery would be nice though Oak would have to take some of the contract.

Was hoping we could scrounge some sort of decent/OK SS without giving away draft picks.
$4 mil x 1 year = meh, but 2nd round draft pick = :-/

?
I very much doubt they put 4 lefties in a row like that.
Not sure why they can't avoid the left handed run, the lineup I made was lefty righty all the way down and likely close to what they'll do.

There is no way they hit Giambi and Cust back to back.
I guess they could hit Cust (with all his walks) 2nd, Holliday 3rd, and Giambi 4th....but there's no reason to hit the lefties back to back.
I'm also pretty sure they hit Cabrera near the top somewhere, as he's done most of his career.
Last year Ellis was one of their more clutch hitters, so he'll hit higher than 8th.
They are high on Sweeney and it's always been their plan to try and lead him off.
I watched about 90% of their games last year, and I think this is very close to how their lineup will hash out.

4. Holliday (R)
5. Cust (L)
6. Chavez (L) (Garciaparra? (R))
7. Ellis (R)
8. Sweeney (L)
9. Buck (L) then Hannahan; others would move up

I've always gotten the impression that Sweeney will be platooned. Who is his platoon partner in these scenarios?
