Crazy trade in my pay league

This trade was recently made in my pay league

Colon and Guardado
for
Kearns and Matsui

I consider this trade to be ridiculous. When I made a complaint about the trade the guy getting Kearns and Matsui assured me that he knows what he is doing and then he guaranteed that Kearns would go .330/30/110 and Matsui would go .310/30/130. I can't believe I paid to be in this league...

Why is this trade so ridiculous. If Kearns stays healthy, he'll be a stud. And, Bartolo is a pig. Matsui is going to hit in that lineup. If the guy needed hitting, it doesn't look too bad. The only reason it might look bad is the draft order they were taken in.

It leans a little, but I wouldn't call it ridiculous. Very possible that by the end of the year it works out even, but the guy getting Kearns/Matsui is taking a bit of risk with it.

I don't know I guess I'm just not as high on Kearns as everyone else and not as down on Colon as everyone else is.

Guaranteeing 30 bombs and 130 RBI's from Kaz? Does he know where he happens to be hitting in the lineup? :-b

Hideki, my mistake for not specifying.

I keep forgetting about the other Matsui. :-B

I'm not a big fan of people "guaranteeing" stats.

wouldnt Kaz be the "other" Matsui considering Hideki has already played a year in the league? ;-7

it would be pretty boring to me if all the guys in my league had the same concept of value.

Colon is overrated and Guardado is solid. However, he does have Shiggy and Soriano breathing down his neck.

I think Matsui is decent but nothing to write home about. However, Kearns all by his lonesome could be reason enough to do the deal. A lot of folks are really high on the kid.

I don't think this deal is ridiculous at all.

You have to remember even though his deal says 3 years (Guardado). I believe it is in all reality a one-year deal filled with incentives. If he struggles, Hasagawa will close (as he did fine last year). IMO Guardado is a one-year stopgap -- Blackley and Nageotte could break into the majors in relief (likely in 2005) if Moyer/Garcia aren't gone....they might regardless.

IMO It quite possibly could be Colon and a set-up guy for Kearns (who IF healthy could easily hit 30+) and Matsui (who I think will improve to the 25 HR neighborhood).
