Byrnsie: Healthy, Heating Up. Time To Buy

Postby AussieDodger » Sun Apr 26, 2009 4:00 am

Everyone was concerned about the health of Eric Byrnes' hamstrings before the season, and in his last 4 games he has 2 SB, 3 doubles and 2 HRs.

I also found this little nugget dated April 1:

Eric Byrnes made a diving catch over the weekend that finally has him feeling confident about the health of his hamstring.
Byrnes should be 100 percent for Opening Day. "Not necessarily that it was the best that I've ever made, but the fact that it was the first time I had pulled that explosion, fully-laid out move since I had been hurt," he said. "That was kind of like the last step to get over, to know that I'm healthy."

Arizona aren't scoring (Last 2 weeks scores of 1,1,7,7,0,2,0,6,6,2,1,3) so anyone who is hawt is going to be in the line up.
And his main competition in Conor Jackson and Justin Upton have made pretty clueless starts.

In a lot of leagues he will just be sitting there on waivers, so BUY BUY BUY BUY!
A 20/20 guy for just about nothing = :-L .

Agreed. Drafted him, dropped him, just grabbed him again letting go Dickerson.
He looked very good against Lincecum in his at bats.

I've had him stashed on my bench for a couple weeks now, so hopefully that will pay off and I can begin to start him soon.

I don't knw why Byrnes seemed to be a 4th outfielder who got lucky, he just seems to be too streaky in his career

Update:

The Diamondbacks are starting Byrnsie in all 3 OF positions (over CBYoung sometimes at CF which is quite surprising/exciting), and unfortunately he is rocking a 12% hit%.

Twelve percent. 8-o

All his other stats seem to be in order except for his hit%.

When that normalises he could/should pin down a everyday gig, and we're off to the races. ;-D ;-D :-L :-L

BOOM! HR!

I hope some of you guys have hopped aboard. :-L

New manager for the Diamondbacks, and starting in the delicious 5 spot.

Byrnsie last 3 games....

2/2, 1 RBI, 1SB 1 CS
2/5, 1 2B
2/5 3 RBI, 1 2B, 1 HR.

Unless you have a b\deep bench I wouldnt look at Byrnes too much, the D-Backs are still very high on developing their Young OF core of Young, Upton and Jackson, and Byrnes may get 3-4 starts a weeks to rest them, but Hinch was the developement VP, and reason they made him manager was to give a boost to theot young players. he would be good foe my one leage where we have 5 OF spots, 3 Util spots, and 5 offense bench spots.

I don't think Byrnsie will be paid $10 mil per year to sit on the bench. Jackson will play 1B to fit him in. Also, CBYoung has totally lost the plot re: the strike zone this year and he's not immune from being benched (Byrnes has already started 4 games at CF).

Byrnsie is relevant in ALL leagues, potential 20/20 guys always are.
