REYES & MATSUI...answer me new york...

Postby Clevelander » Mon Mar 15, 2004 2:30 pm

calling the new yorkers...seriously what is expected of the almighty middle infielders here.....?

what is the value slapped on these guys and are the projections for real or is it overhype...?

all ive seen thus far is similar numbers for both...roughly

.310+ AVE/20+SB/above average on base/and 80/80R & RBIS...

also whats the latest on the hammy pull...
let me know whats being said in those papers and rumors as i think everyone who has these guys are watching very closely in hopes of a great pick in the draft but could also be a shot in the foot...

Kaz should be a top 10 SS and reyes a top 10 2B(as soon as he's eligible and as long as he stays healthy)

I'm not sure Reyes will be ready for opening day, but he shouldn't be out too long is what I've heard

correct me if I'm wrong...

im no New Yorker but...

i don't think either will drive in close to 80 runs batting in the 1 and 2 spots in an NL line up. i also don't see a 310 average. I do see 90 runs, 10 home runs and 30 sbs.

I agree with this for the most part. Reyes will hit roughly .300, however, Matsui (just a gut here) will hit somewhere bet. .270 and .280; I think 30 SBs isa good projection.

I will say this, New York has never been known to over hype their prospects, NEVER! Moose lighten up.

Fielding wise they're good, but hitting wise vizquel is below average.

Well most here like to slam the Mets, so I was coming to there defense. My fault for taking it the wrong way.
