4 picks left in my offline draft (Need MR and Catcher)

Postby jebatzel » Mon Mar 15, 2004 3:50 pm

I have 4 picks left in my draft.

our league counts holds and the only rps I have are closers.

I don't have a catcher either.

Joe Mauer, Craig Wilson, and M. LeCroy are still available.

who should I go after?

Rafael Soriano, Sea
L. Hawkins ChC
T. Martin LA
F. Rodríguez SF
B. Lidge Hou
P. Quantrill NYY

Hawkins got a lot of wins last year, you think that will happen again with the Cubs?

Soriano may end of being a Starter some day too.

Donnelly was the only one drafted of note so far.

my team so far:

N. Garciaparra
Vladimir Guerrero
R. Johnson
Scott Rolen
Jason Schmidt
Sammy Sosa
Lance Berkman
T. Hudson
Jeff Kent
B. Giles
J. Santana
M. Sweeney
C. Zambrano
Michael Young
Mark Teixeira,
O. Dotel
A. Rhodes
Jose Contreras

10 team head to head league.

Hitting Stat Categories: R, H, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SH, SF, SB, BB, K, FPCT, AVG, OPS

Pitching stats: IP, W, L, CG, SHO, SV, HR, BB, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP, K/9

At catcher I'd go Lecroy, then Mauer or Wilson. Lecroy and Wilson will probably have better power numbers. Mauer should have a higher average.

I think Lidge could notch quite a lot of holds for Houston this year and maybe pick up a few saves and wins as well. Next in line would be Hawkins, Soriano, F. Rod, Quantrill, and Martin.

Nice draft so far I'd say.

thanks

wish I had waited on my shortstop, I could have had Prior and Tejada instead I got RJ and Nomar

that part is killing me, but I think I have a pretty solid team.

closers aren't for sure.

first time using holds for me.

how does this sound for my 4 picks?

L. Hawkins
Lecroy
J. Peavy (has some offense get him some more wins)
R. Soriano

Since Soriano is still hurting, I'd probably take Lidge or Quantrill instead of him.

I'd take LeCroy out of the group of catchers and either Lidge or Hawkins out of the group of relievers ;-D

You said donnelly was the only one taken... what about Guillermo Mota? He is one of the best around. I like Soriano out of the rest of those if Mota isnt there. I'm liking LeCroy with Mauer in a close second out of the catchers.

Mota is with the Dodgers. He's a solid pick-up for you if you can get him. You might want to consider whether you need another starter or not. It looks like you already have 6 starters and may not need Peavy. If there's an innings limit, you might not be able to take advantage of all your starters. If that's the case, pick up three more relievers or 2 relievers and a back-up catcher. It's hard to know what to recommend without your league rules.

For middle relievers, I'd go with Mota, Lidge, Hawkins, Rodriguez among the ones you listed. I'd also consider Valverde before Hawkins. Soriano's good, but I'd make sure he was healthy first.
