Both are playing very poorly so far this year. Which would you take the rest of the year?

Jimmy's been showing signs of life recently. Gotta go with him here.

So has Alexei. Went from batting .214 in April to .281 in May. He's coming around as well.

What explanation is necessary? Ramirez was on par with Rollins as recently as last season, as well as early this season. Then you've got his actual improved play at the plate May over Rollins' and of course there's a debate. Rollins may very well perform better than Alexei the rest of the way, but to say there's no debate to be had, as if it's some sort of given is just silly. Alexi may still be riding quite a bit on hype; almost as much as Rollins is still riding on his name.

At first glance this really doesn't seem like much of a debate and I have had Rollins for the last 4-5 years on my roster. Also backed him up plenty of times in the numerous "Should I drop Rollins" threads around here. Alexei has a lot more potential to rack up the HR's where as Rollins seems to have peaked a few years ago in that department and 15 is more likely than 25. We could definitely see Alexei get up around the 25-30 range this season. He has said many times he heats up with the weather and he's actually at a better pace this season than he was last year. With his improved SB% this season we may have a guy taking a solid run at a 25/25 season with really solid runs/rbi's out of that 2 slot in Chicago.

Why are Rollins best years behind him because of two months? He battled a high ankle sprain for a good portion of the year last year and still set a career high in steals. With the exception of his mvp year Rollins doesn't put up good numbers in April and May. Even in his mvp season he was horrible during the month of may. Go back and look at his split stats...I get your playing devil's advocate, but there's no way given the option you would take Alexei over Rollins the rest of the year.
