it's definately handled differently then the regular flu though.

But missing the season?? That is ludicrous. And all signs point to him not having swine flu (media reports indicate that he hasn't run a fever) and Maine is already recouping from his bout with it. It's probably just a bad stomach virus.

And for the record, that report is still hearsay until it comes back that this guy actually has it. I'm willing to bet the mistake has been made before.

I never said missing the season, I'm just saying if it is pig flu, he's going to be hospitalized...

Hett, you didn't say that, but in the original post, probably tongue in cheek, BitterDodgerFan did say he could miss the season.

FYI, swine flu is now pretty widespread in my kids school district (suburban NJ) and my kids (6th and 8th grade) are both home with a probable case of the flu.

At first, all possible cases of the flu in our district had to be tested to see if they were swine flu. But now, as this has proven to be a pretty mild flu, they didn't even want my kids tested. And they aren't closing their school either.

Swine flu (actually H1N1) is a classic case of a potential real problem that had to be monitored that was turned into media hysteria. Flu kills thousands of people every year, and a new strain has to be monitored. But boy did everyone go overboard about this one.

Missing three days because of a "stomach virus" ? Give me a break. Lot of old timers rolling over in their grave with the wusses that play today!

Oh I get it... you are trying to buy low on Beltran in your league ;-) ... Definitely sell before he misses the season, bitterdodgerfan seems like a sucker who might take on a guy with the swine flu for a 4th OF (how's that ;-D ?)

Beltran and Maine don't have swine flu according to the team doctors (rotoworld). In Beltran's case they've made a final diagnosis, pu^^yitis with a touch of cr@popantis.
