Does Glavines release have anything to do with Hanson maybe getting a callup?

No, they couldn't really add any money and the $1 million bonus he would have got is something they wouldn't have liked to do, even for a Braves legend like Glavine.

not a bad move for the pirates... two of atlanta's better pitching prospects and a good defensive CF. here's hoping mclouth takes to the change of scenery

Looks like a win win for both teams. I wonder where he will bat as well, 1st or 5th I'd imagine. But it looks like a solid move.

Nate McLouth of
3 years/$15.75M (2009-11), plus 2012 club option

* 3 years/$15.75M (2009-11), plus 2012 club option
o signed extension with Pittsburgh 2/17/09 (avoided arbitration, $3.8M-$2.75M)
o $1.5M signing bonus
o 09:$2M, 10:$4.5M, 11:$6.5M, 12:$10.65M club option ($1.25M buyout)

What the Pirates got is really not that amazing for an excellent and cheap CF signed long term.

Gorkys' numbers have taken huge strides backwards this year, Morton's '08 and '09 minors seasons have been pretty good but is he "all that"? and Jeff Locke looks to be an A+ level lottery ticket.

At first glance it looks like Pittsburgh got ripped.

Yep, Pirates getting Cole Rohrbough included would have been more fair imo.

Bravo. Pittsburgh fans are probably toeing the ledge right now. McLouth has to be stoked.
