40 SB Threats

Postby moose32 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 10:54 am

It seems like there are quite a few guys who could steal 40 sbs that you can take later in the draft. I'd like to get the cafe's thoughts/ranks of the following speedsters.

M.Bourn- Was the avg a fluke?
N.Morgan- Can't hit lefties
R.Davis- Playing time?
J.Pierre- A solid bet if he's a full time player
J.Borbon- Can he stay at the top of the lineup?
D.Fowler- Crowded OF in COL

If the Yankees don't end up signing anyone else, Gardner would have a good shot at 40 SB.

Another one to keep in mind is Andrus. I'm not real big on giving up an OF spot to a guy who will hit 5 HRs with 45 RBIs, I feel a little better doing so at SS. Also it looks like Pods will have the full time gig in KC, as long as times picked off doesn't count against you he should be near 40.

Alicdes Escobar depending on how much PT he gets...could be a nice MI option or starting SS in deeper leagues

40 seems like sort of stretch for Kemp and Kinsler. They're both quick but 40 seems sort of improbable, especially for Kinsler. McCutchen maybe.

Kemp had 34 last year and is a rare talent. Kinsler's issue is staying healthy...as much as Texas runs I'd say he's a threat.

I'll add Everth Cabrera to the list. He has some serious wheels and I think he is going to leadoff for the Padres.

If you are really desperate there is always Willy Taveras. He doesn't look like he has a starting job now but Dusty is the manager so I'm sure he will find him some AB.

For guys you can get really really late in a draft, I'm gonna suggest Michael Brantley and Drew Stubbs.

Because the OP is looking for players you can find later in the draft.

I think Getz and Gomez should have the ABs to get close to 40.
