Sheets to A's

Postby DaSh 1s » Tue Jan 26, 2010 2:10 pm

From MLBTR:

Quote:
Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that the A's have signed Sheets to a one-year deal worth $8MM. He took his physical today, and everything checked out fine.

That's a solid gamble.

When they don't contend, a super solid trade chip at the deadline.

It is being reported as $10 million not 8 plus incentives.

A healthy Sheets in that park should net some nice pieces at the trade deadline if the A's are out of it.

Until last year I would have said no one. Now, the White Sox.

Not a bad move for 1 year...anything more would have been gambling. Still a lot of money for a guy that hasn't pitched in over a year, but Sheets is one of the top pitching talents in the game. If the A's get lucky and he stays relatively healthy, he's at the very least a dynamite trade chip at the deadline.
