he's thrown 140 or more innings every year since 2001, with the exception of 2006.

Or to put it another way, 2 of the last 5 seasons he made 150 IP. And one was barely with 156.

Well...to be fair 140IP is "around" 150IP. Also, including last season is a bit silly IMO considering he missed the entire thing, though you are technically correct. He still might not make it to "around" 150, but I don't think you can extrapolate that based on his past numbers. He's definitely a high risk/reward guy. I'm curious to see how he holds up.

I'd say 150IP sounds about right to me.

Not a bad gamble for the A's IMHO. The Beane Machine at work. ;-D

Fantasy-wise, I'd take a gamble on him but only pay for 100 innings.

The upper limit on innings should be about 150. It is really hard to miss a season completely and follow it up with more than 150 innings. The lower limit you should probably aim for is 100 IP because if you don't think he can do 100 IP you might as well not sign him. In a H2H league I'd avoid him since you won't have him for the playoffs, in a roto league he can be useful to bolster your stats while he is healthy though.

Maybe they'll be able to get prospects as good as Sean Gallagher, Eric Patterson and Matt Murton at the deadline.
