Mike Pelfrey!?!

- Former No.1 pick in 2005, dogged by inconsistency thus far, who supposedly spent the off-season refining his stuff.
- Off to a 3-0 red hot start with a .86 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 16:8 K:BB ratio through 21 IP.
- Comically recorded his first career save in that 20 inning marathon.
- Currently has a .231 BABIP against, which suggests those pretty ratios above will rise.

I won't bother with the statistical analysis, because these guys can do a much better job than I ever could, but methinks Pelfrey is on the verge of a break-out year. I gobbled him up in a Cafe league but missed the bandwagon in two others. If you've got a roster spot to burn, why not use it on Pelfrey? The dividends could be huge.

He always had an ace's fastball (his two-seamer can be electric), it was his lack of command with a 2nd pitch that kept him from blossoming. In my book he's always been a guy where it was a question of When, not If.
