When will Burrell get hot?

Postby Twinskies » Thu Mar 25, 2004 12:33 am

I was fortunate to pick Burrell up in the late rounds of my draft and i am hearing good things about him this year. He has the potential to be my third outfielder (currently that spot is held by Jose Guillen) but i was wondering if it would be a good idea to play Burrell right away. Will he be hot right away or should i wait and see what happens and stick with Guillen for now?
This field, this game, it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh people will come Ray, people will most definitely come.

"I don't have enough fingers." -- Pat Burrell, when asked to put his finger on the reason for his season-long slump.

Umm, personally, I wouldn't start him immediately. I'd like to see him do something before putting him in.

That being said, I'm probably going to be forced into starting him right off the bat, though as my 2nd UTIL player, because I don't have anyone better on the bench. I drafted a thin hitting bench in that league and opted to stack up on closers, instead.

I wouldn't count on him ever getting hot. All the fanning he does keeps everyone cool. B-)

If you mean hot as in he will contribute to your team, probably never. Even if he gets some power back, I still don't see him being much different than Troy Glaus, i.e. death in a roto league because of a BA in the .250 range. There are a bunch of guys I would take a flyer on before I touched Burrell.
