Not saying he was right about everything. Just pointing out that he was right on Broxton, when the general tenor of the posts criticizing him was "Look what he said about Broxton! The guy must be an idiot."

My point is that he wasn't right on Broxton. He said Broxton would implode because of an incredibly flawed statistic.

It's like predicting somebody will die of cancer but they die of AIDS (Not the brightest comparison but it works).

What a joke. There are so many gaps in his logic it just blows my mind. The simple fact that he uses AVG - a statistic subject to so many variables that it doesn't do a good job of evaluating player performance - as the only statistic in his entire article makes his argument completely irrelevant.

I would say this is the worst article I've read so far this year, but I haven't read all of Mass's columns so I wouldn't know. A Katy Perry quote, a bunch of useless statistics that tell us nothing...AJ Mass is garbage. He makes no effort whatsoever to provide any useful information, and his statistical analysis is honestly around 8th grade level.

Yes, you still read it. He wins.

True :-b

However, I almost always ignore his columns and only read this one because I had a feeling it would be terrible. I fail to see how he is still employed.

Because he writes in such a way that he gets people talking (I'm assuming). I don't know that I've ever read one of his columns. I go straight to places I know are directed towards me and my type of play when I'm looking to read. Maybe it's just cause my time is scarce anymore, I dunno. Several years ago I would read Eric Karabell and found him to be hit or miss. All they're looking for is to get people forming opinions, though, and to appeal to the most people, which is rarely the ilk that frequent the Cafe. Read the articles that go up here, or FanGraphs, or wherever; you'll save yourself the headache. ;-D
