Does Castro still got the rape trail yet to go?..or did they settle it out of court yet..That could leave some doubt to if he misses any point of the season..

I think I would go Mauer

If your playing for this year I'd go with Castro. If it's a keeper then maybe Mauer, but I don't think he helps you as much this year.

Last I heard Castro wasn't going to trial until after the season so you should be safe.

If Castro has the full time job, he'd probably be a better option than Mauer this year. People who listen to all the hype around Mauer will say otherwise, but he's touted as a great defensive catcher who makes good contact. That doesn't mean fantasy stardom, and I doubt he'll ever be as good for fantasy as Posada and Piazza are/were. I'd avoid him in most cases because he's drafted before he should be. Go with Castro.

There are three problems with Castro:

1. rape trial
2. batting average: he'll probably hit below .250
3. Redmond: better defensively. If he hits as well during the season as he has in spring training, he's going to cut into Castro's playing time.

Mauer isn't going to hit very many home runs, but he should hit for average, and he should play a lot more games than Castro. That means more opportunities to score runs and knock people in.
