Will Urbina be ready?

Postby Apollo » Sat Mar 27, 2004 5:05 am

I live in Cleveland, and when it seemed as if the Tribe was going to sign Urbina, there was a lot of talk that he wouldn't be ready for the start of the season--in fact, Shapiro said he wouldn't be ready until at least May because he hadn't pitched since the World Series.

Does that change at all now that he's with the Tigers? And if he won't pitch until May, does Rodney have value for a month or so?

He'll be ready to sit on the bench while the Tigers lose 100 games.

I actually don't think Urbina will be a bad pickup. He's in a great pitchers park and you know he probably won't be overworked. :-D

I give him at least 20 saves - take em where you can get em.

No, he isn't expected to be ready when the season starts, but we probably won't have to wait very long. In the meantime, Patterson will probably pick up a save or two, depending on Rodney's status, but neither seems like a good pickup.
