Kaz Question

Postby rippz » Fri Apr 09, 2004 8:46 pm

I know it is only the first week but I have noticed that besides game one, all he does is walk and strike out.

Every game besides the first he has walked twice and Kd twice per game. I have a feeling this will continue and he doesnt run either.

Well actually he just ran for the first time but was CS.

Does anyone else think owning him is going to be up and down all season long?

Almost every player is up and down during the season. Little Matsui is a decent player, but I sure don't expect him to swipe over 30 bases and hit over 10 hr's. Most Japanese players are over hyped, I'm not sure why, I'm still trying to figure that one out.

i would agree, with Hyde, but i think he is an above average fantasy shortstop. My league uses OPS instead of AVG, so those walks don't hurt me as much as you.

BUt i think he will start running more. You have to remember this guy is only in his fourth real game in the US. Give him time to get comfortable on the bases and lets see what he can do.

But be realistic other than the top 20 every player out there is up and down.

I apologize. It seems as though after I posted Kaz got word and went on to hit a single and a double.

Ugh sweet play at the plate. :~(
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Another walk, this one intentional, that makes 7 in 4 games. Was he known in Japan as a guy to take a lot of walks?

damnit i needed a win or a save from looper. Now i have neither. Kaz has been walking a lot, and that hurts since you get no points for that.

I get one point for walks in my points league, compared to a point for a hit plus total bases, but at least it's something.

If he starts running we'll all be very happy with those walks. (And since he's batting leadoff I think it's just a matter of time until he starts running.)

I think it's about a month too early to lose hope with Kaz. He's looked perfectly respectable adjusting to American pitchers. Give the guy some time. Everyone in the fantasy world is on Reyes' nuts, but as I recall he had a rough few weeks at the major league level before he started taking off too.
