First I've seen on ESPN of the right elbow injury.

Perhaps my keeper league offer for Prior last week doesn't look so bad now....

Any1 COULD be out the entire year...

I wouldn't look too much into it.

I would. Even when a guy has some serious problems (Nen comes to mind) it's very rare you see a team acknowledge they might be out the rest of the year. I don't think they brought it up as a terribly remote possibility.

I don't think that the story is really saying that. It is saying that they aren't going to say anything until he's throwing for real. Which is logical. Sucks from a fantasy/ Cubs fan perspective but makes a good deal of sense from a personel/ HR perspective. It's his thing and he has to deal with it. I'm sure he'd like to pitch but, given the long term goals the Cubs appear to have for him, they are not going to gamble on him at this point.

It looks like the Cubs will be like they were last year, w/ two lights-out type of pitchers. They did ok last year but, w/ the improved lineup, perhaps they will still have a chance.

My stance on Prior: He'll return around mid-year. His injuries are healing up, but he's still in pre-Spring Training form, so he has to go through a Spring Training period before even thinking about returning yet.

I highly doubt that he's done for the year, or that his elbow will be as much of an issue as his Achilles.
The odds of the AL MVP coming from the American League are looking pretty good.

Who knows. That the cubs are even considering the possiblity is troubling. Very rarely do teams admit how serious an injury is. (See Nomar/ Pedro 2001, Griffey numerous times)

I have a feeling Prior is going to be on the DL for a long, long time. :-/

based on the facts i am still assuming he will be back early to mid May. He is throwing off a mound now, so he stills needs a couple of weeks to prepare his arm. Assuming he stays pain free he would be right on target to return. I thought the article was more about how they wouldn't rush Prior back. If he feels any pain, they will shut him down which is what i think they ment
