I want to pick up a free agent starting pitcher, and all these guys are available. Who do you think is better (factoring in risk of injury, potential, etc.)? Thanks.

Tony Armas Jr.

I think Tony Armas is a horse. He's a strong young guy that just needs to keep the ball close to the plate. He has raw power but is wild. I still like him enough that I picked him up as a free agent in my league....

I would go with Armas Jr. ... I know Spring Stats are misleading, but he has looked great:

1 W, 0 L, 1.64 ERA, 11.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4 BB 16 K

Best potential IMO.

Williams

Take Williams. He pitches with a better supporting cast around him than Armas does. The only caveat is that he's also more likely to get hurt -- so it depends on how much risk you are willing to take. I'd rather take the better pitcher and the injury risk, so I'd take Williams, but if you are injury-conscious & have been burnt before, take Armas.

Woody.

I wouldn't want to start Armas in Puerto Rico, that's 1/4 his starts.

Already 31, with only 500 career innings, isnt a recipe for busting out.

good point....that said i think WELLS will bust out. look for him to get 15 wins with a 3.5 era and 150 k's, far better than any of those other guys. woody would be the top if he wasnt so prone to injury at the ripe old age of 36

Right now Woody is the best pitcher, and Armas has the most potential. That said I think Wells may be the best safe bet.

I would probably take Armas, though. His upside is worth the risk you take in selecting him. His stuff is what aces are made of.

Lidle is good, but I don't think he is that good.
