Worst arm in baseball???

Postby timely » Fri Apr 23, 2004 4:01 am

I noticed some of you were talking about "the master thief" in baseball, (the guy who can steal the most bases).
And then i started thinking, who would be the easiest to rob?? (Alas, this is how my mind works...)

Which catcher out there has the worst arm in baseball?
Which catcher virtually screams out "Dont bother even sliding, cos I don`t have a chance in Hades of even coming close to throwing you out??

I have seen that in some games already this year, guys have been stealing 3 bases a game sometimes....how can this happen???

I just went over some stats and noticed that in 4 games against Colorado, Roberts has stolen 8 bases. Whose catching for Colorado most of the time this season?? Does an upcoming game against Colorado indicate it would be a great idea to play your speedsters instead of your power hitters????

Piazza. You can run on his useless arm all day. I'm sure he gets lucky every now and then like when a runner trips and has to get back up.. but even then its a bang bang play at 2nd.

Worst throwing catcher: Piazza

He's the worst overall athlete in baseball, from what I've heard (amongst non-pitchers - or else David Wells wins that award). He's not coordinated enough to walk and chew gum, but he can do one thing well: hit the ball.

maybe i should have asked for the worst armS in baseball, cos I think the Piazza answer is gonna be unanimous. (if only Kaz wasnt playing on the same team as him, then we would see some numbers)

How about the 3 worst arms in baseball.....delve deep gentlemen.

positions besides Pitcher that require lots of throwing are OF,C. 3B and SS have to as well.. but they normally all have cannons for arms.

Guys that ive seen throw and said to myself "This guys sucks" or "I could throw better than that" are..

Piazza of course but you've said besides him..

Jaun Pierre- but his speed makes up for lots of his shortcomings.
Lance Berkman.. he can 2 hop it into 2nd with the best of em.
3rd one I may get some that disagree but, H.Matsui to me is just awful. I saw him last year pick up the ball and not even look where he was throwing it and threw it into the dugout when he was tryin to throw it to the cutoff man.
Manny Ramirez is pretty bad to when it comes to throwing. Lucky for him he has a Green Monster behind him so he doesnt have to play that deep and his throws arent nearly as far as others.

I'll throw a Johnny Damon in there.

What?? No love for Piazza? He's improving, really. He now gets it up to second on one bounce instead of two.

Jeff Bagwell has to have the worst arm in the league. His shoulder is so messed up it takes all he's got to get the ball back to the pitcher after a pickoff attempt to first. Ever seen him try to throw home?
