More Yankee Brilliance: Jose Vidro?

Could the Yankees be after Vidro? I have heard rumors that he could be traded to fill the Yanks' void at second. Does anyone have a concrete source for that rumor? I am trying to trade Vidro, and it would help my cause if I could show something in writing to the other owner.

Also, how much would a move to NY help Vidro's value?

I believe it's all speculation at this point. You'll probably see more come out around mid-season. There are other second baseman out there besides Vidro that could be had.

I havn't heard anything yet, but there is speculation from a few people around the cafe. And as for Vidro's value: it will skyrocket, of course. He's on probably the worst offensive team in baseball, and would be moving to one of the best lineups in baseball history. Of course his value would shoot up.

Wait until August/September when the Expos are mathematically out, at which point all 14 of their fans won't notice their best hitter leaving town. Until then, I don't think he'll be going anywhere, since the Yankees won't need him to get to the playoffs, they just need him to help during the playoffs.

Sorry, but anything that you're going to find in print is likely to be the speculation of journalists, not those doing the actual dealing. Cashman and Co. haven't come out and said they are targeting Player A for second base.

Well the biggest problem with the Yankees trading for Vidro is that about 8 teams need a second basemen and the yankees don't have anyone to trade. Their minor league system SUCKS, and the Expos don't want Bernie Williams or Kenny Lofton.

He'll be traded for sure this year, but probably not to the Yanks.

Well they won't have to give up players. Vidro makes $7M this season, so if they take on that contract and give them a piece of junk player in return, the Expos would probably be happy. Not many teams would be willing to do that, which is why the Yankees always get top players, despite not having any good prospects to trade.

And out of curiousity, what teams need 2Bs?
