Peavy tonight

Postby nsulham » Mon Apr 26, 2004 6:59 pm

If he allows 2+ runs to Montreal tonight I'll be very disappointed.

Yes maybe that's a bit harsh but lets consider the factors at work here:

1) Montreal is traveling cross-country after a game yesterday
2) Montreal is the worst-hitting team in the majors
3) PETCO is a pitcher's park
4) Peavy's pitched well thus far

To me, all those points should lead to Peavy having a nice line and getting the win. If he allows 2+ and gets an ND or loss, I'll be disappointed.

Disappointed? That's the best you can do? It appears the trend is to panic and immediately drop players. I think you should reconsider your reaction.

If I had Peavy, I'd be disappointed if he gave up more than 2 ER tonight. I mean, come on, just look at all of the factors.

I wouldn't drop him or anything if he did worse, but I'd certainly expect a lot tonight.

Yeah kick him to the curb, right bell?

I don't advise anyone doing anything harsh if he under-performs tonight but as is the trned, like you said, chances are he'll be dropped like a bad habit if he doesn't do well.

He's been great this year and he's not going ANYWHERE for me, my point was just that I'd be disappointed if he didn't handle the 'Spos.

I'd say the over/unders should be:
7.1ip
1.5er
0.85whip
If 2 or more of those go over or he doesn't get the W, it will be a let down.

Here's to hoping he does. ;-D Well, maybe I shouldn't say that.....my allegiance says otherwise.

Maybe I'm the only one who feels like this and maybe it's just because of the size (10) of the league I'm in but anyone else think this?

Tonight's a big night for Peavy for me. All the factors are there for him to have a great game. If he can handle the Expos, like he should, then to me he's "made the leap."

He's pitched well this year but, for me anyways, he hasn't become one of those guys who you just throw in your lineup every week and let him go.

If he pitches like I know he can tonight, he'll be entrenched in my lineup for a good while.

Peavy is a stud and I am his biggest supporter, the guy is going to give up maybe 2 runs and thats it. He should be 4-0 although the loss to big unit 2-1 is fair. the other 2 games were blown by the pen. This guy has big stuff all over him. He is solid and will blow up the expos and damn near any other team too, especially with Petco corecting some of his mistakes.
