Huff Vs. DYE

Postby NY Yankees Fan 2004 » Fri Apr 30, 2004 4:22 pm

Who would you rather have on your team?
(but, this would totally ignore April Stats)

From May 1st till the end the season who will put up better numbers and what are your projected stats?

Give me Huff.

Dye has only hit over 30 homers once and hit over .300 once over his career.

Huff did both of those things last year in his first full season.

Dye is injury prone and his best year was with KC which was a hitters park. Now he is in a pitchers park.

Huff qualifies at 1B, OF, and possibly 3B soon.

No contest.

Huff.

In my league he is eligible at 1B, OF and 3B.

Projections?

Huff - .295 BA, 105 RBI, 35 HR

Dye - .270 BA, 85 RBI, 25 HR

Right now, I'd still take Huff over Dye.

Dye hit 5 of his 7 homers off Texas pitching. I said it right after that series to sell high on Dye. He hasn't hit a homer for the past 9 games.

To make this thread a little clearer I have Dye and have an offer to get Huff, but I would lose Dye.
April Stats mean nothing in this situation.
You can throw out dyes 7HR and 18RBIs
What matters is who does better from NOW till the end of the season!

Well, that's only one less than Huff's total over the past 2 weeks, and throwing out those 7 that Dye hit off Texas pitching, it still matches what Huff has so far this year :(

That said, I'd take Huff over Dye, but I'd keep him on my bench until he comes around. If I don't have space for him on my bench, I'd have to take Dye...

its amazing what only a month can do to people's perceptions...
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.

Doubtful Huff finishes with 35 HR's now. I see 25-30 as most likely but 35 is attainable if he finds his swing soon and goes on a tear. I think Dye will have about 105 rbis barring injury. That being said Huff is a better option if your ignoring April stats and just going on now till the end of the season.
