Need Serious Help

Postby Bonehead » Sat May 01, 2004 8:50 am

A team owner in my league (league started 4/25) has made an accusation of collusion between myself and another owner, based on our having made FA acquistions within a few minutes of each other and we both rejected trades from him. Myself and this other owner also had a trade pending ( I had approx. 10 possible trades that didn't work out) He gives Loaiza, I give Tejada and Biddle. I needed starting pitching and had Tejada, Nomar and M. Young as well as Smoltz, Dotel, Chacon and Julio. The trade filled needs for both owners.

As a result of his charge, the league vetoed our trade (public, free league). I am unbelievably pissed. Am I overreacting, was this a bad trade. Can I contact the league commisioner to have the trade reinstated? Advice.

You should be glad that trade was vetoed. For Tejada you can get a better pitcher than Loiaza. That trade wasnt too bad, but you were on the losing end. For Tejada plus a closer, you should be able to get a top notch proven pitcher, not a possible 1 year wonder like Loiaza.

Agreed. You sure you want to trade Tejada/Biddle for Loaiza?
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

The trade was fine, you were losing if anything. However, you should remind them that in a free public league, the chances of that happening are nearly impposible
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

I agree with the others...that was a losing trade for you...but there was no reason for the league to veto it...or for anyone to suspect collusion... :-)

I agree too. You were on the short end, but it shouldn't have been vetoed, and a "collusion" accusation should not have been made.
